Nature on Canvas
By Dena Brown

Painted in oils and framed. Painted with a thick texture to capture the feel of the grasses.

A colourful depiction of a pond in Autumn, the golden/orange leaves floating on the surface juxtaposes the bright green of the meadow, interspersed with the stark reflections of the bare branches

There is a station in Wymondham, Norfolk called Abbey Station, as it is near the old Wymondham Abbey. The diesel trains run from here to Dereham during the Summer. The scenery is really stunning. It goes through 4/5 villages

I love this scene, although I did'nt really enjoy painting it all that much. The pebbles became a little bit tiresome. At the time I was inspired by an artist called David Curtis who paints on the North East Coast, and is excellent at painting people in coastal scenes. SOLD

This painting was the start of my Flower period. I spent over a year painting large bright flowers in their garden settings as a way of bringing the garden inside the house and adding colour to our cream coloured walls.

A hot sunny day in Mundesley. With the sun shining down on this hollyhock by a church wall inspired me to paint this. I loved the sunlight coming through the petals changing the hues dramatically.

A real close up of a poppy! I loved painting the subtle changes of colour on the petals and the centre as I looked down upon it. It now hangs on the chimney breast.

I love irises. they are so Summery. I particularly like them in a garden setting on their own, when not competing against another colour, apart from green. They are a very challenging flower to paint!

I like the challenge of painting something different. Many professional artists tend to stick to what they know and like. Me, I like challenges and variety. I go through phases from painting landscapes, townscapes, seascapes, flowers and people. I can find inspiration from almost anything.
